Air Conditioner Troubleshooting Tips
Now that winter is officially over, it’s time to start thinking about getting your air conditioner in tip-top shape before the hot summer months. To make sure everything is in proper running order, we suggest you take time in the next couple of months to make sure everything is ready to go.
If your air conditioning unit does not work properly, we have listed a few tips below:
Problem – Your air conditioner is running but the house isn’t cooling down
Solution 1 – Check your filter. If it has not been changed, chances are it is too dirty and the evaporator coil at your furnace is frozen. If this is the case, shut off your air conditioning unit to let the coil de-ice.
Solution 2 – Your air conditioner could have a refrigerant leak and has lost the charge. Give us a call and we can troubleshoot the problem for you.
Problem – Your air conditioner is not engaging when turning on the cooling on your thermostat
Solution – Check the breaker panel to ensure that the breaker has not been tripped. If the breaker panel is tripped, turn to the off position and contact us as there could be an issue with the compressor.
Problem – Your air conditioner is making a loud noise
Solution – Turn the air conditioner off and contact us. There may be an issue with the condenser fan motor or compressor.
